Raspberry Pi 2 is Raspberry on Steroid. And you can use Windows 10 now.
Pretty big news at Raspberry Pi Foundation as the guys just put out the new Raspberry Pi 2, featuring (for the same price):
- A 900MHz quad-core ARM Cortex-A7 CPU (~6x performance)
- 1GB LPDDR2 SDRAM (2x memory)
- Complete compatibility with Raspberry Pi 1
Because it has an ARMv7 processor, it can run the full range of ARM GNU/Linux distributions, including Snappy Ubuntu Core, as well as Microsoft Windows 10.
As you probably know, the Raspberry Pi has been strongly put into scrutiny in the past by the Open Hardware community because the product – while some of the schematics are available – is not really open for people to build due to some relevant constraints making it a closed product – which is often used to develop open artifacts.
Now apparently you can download a special version of Windows 10 on it making it …
close. Interesting news by the way!
